The first Italian solar-powered Internet provider is located in Vignola ( Modena ).
Thanks to the Sun, Mister Web has been powerfully independent since October 2006. 114 photovoltaic panels have been installed, thus supplying the web agency, the servers, the selling point and administrative offices with electricity.
“It was not only an economic type of choice”, highlights Mister Web management staff. As a matter of fact, installation costs amortization shall begin only within a ten-year term. Consequently, it basically refers to a decision embodying an environmental responsibility taken in the corners of society and coming from some remote distance.”

| “ Almost a couple of years ago, I read about the responsibility involved in installing renewable energy sources– stated Gianni Ugolini, Mister Web S.r.l owner – in a conversation held with the national electric power entity known as “Energy account”; so I hired the services of Nuova Thermosolar, a Formigine company specializing in photovoltaic installations, located in Modena. They offered to provide a “turnkey” installation service, that is to say, a service that included the installation itself, and compliance with all the required formalities before the respective authorities”.
The system comprises a 225 m2 area and it involved using 144 photovoltaic panels as from its start-up, and for the next 50 year-term, such term being the installation average life-span. Its power supply shall be roughly that of 1.327.742 Kw/h. Therefore, it shall prevent 705.031 kg of carbon dioxide from getting into the air, and shall allow saving 114 oil tons (TEP)
“We consider it vital that our clients should know – adds Roberta Vescovini , in charge of Mister Web group marketing and communication department – that their sites hosted in our beacon server, the ADSL lines they purchase from us has a “zero-equivalent” direct environmental impact”.

VERDE WEB PROJECT
Internal business mechanisms aimed at reducing environmental impact
|
1. Lightning of offices and selling points by using low-consumption lamps
2. Switching off personal computers during lunchtime and night hours
3. Switching off assembly supervisors´ monitors when not in use
4. Waste diversified collection in offices and selling points
5. Usage of recycled, or reused paper for offices inner printing, whenever possible
6. Sending of non-recyclable waste directly to the Ecological Belt (such as personal computers that are to be discarded, metallic waste, and the like).
7. Purchase of personal computers materials and components is effected on the basis of a reduced packaging “bulk” version.
